RE: Building Camper from Scratch...Was it Worth it?

Unfortunately (or fortunately), this is the point where 'this is going to be cool' was replaced with 'this is crazy!' With fishing and hunting right around the corner, it was not cost or time effective to complete (2006 Bigfoot came just after this).
The value gained from this adventure was
1) getting contacts for parts/supplies from manufacturers (ie., at cost) and
2) being able to warn anyone else from attempting it unless you have a lot of free time on your hands and want to end up with a $15,000 camper with $0.00 resale value.
It was fun while it lasted. I'll tackle a smaller camper related project that everyone might attempt and submit more pics.
So what did you do with it? I agree with everyone else, VERY nice work!!!

RE: If No Awning On RV, What Canopy Should Be Purchased?

The EZ-Up and a lot of other brands have slanted legs. A 10x10 in those only that size at the bottom and gives you an 8x8 top resulting in only 64 square feet of coverage.
Hmm, I must have an oddball then. (it IS older) Mine is tagged as a 10x10', and that's what the top is. The legs ARE slanted, but the base is about 12x12' My only prob with the slanted legged ones is trying to get 2 of them side by side, the legs are always in the way.:h:S

RE: Lift Removed from Ford Superduty

Those lifted toys are only good for rich little brats whose fathers will replace them as fast as they destroy them.Sorry, I call BS! I bought mine, built mine, and maintain mine out of my own pocket. Asdoes everyone else I know that has a clue what they are doing. YES, I have met a few like you describe, thats not a crowd I run with. I usually see them when I am telling them that the trespassing they are doing is part of the reason there are so few places to go.
Besides, there ain't no place left to LEGALLY drive off-road east of the Mississippi any more anyway. And it's quickly getting that way in the west too. Too many lawyers suing property owners for flat tires, stubbed toes and such while their clients were TRESPASSING! :R
Again, BS! I have access to approx 3000 acres of private prop scattered thru eastern NY and New England. Plus all the legal roads and a couple (small and new) private parks. Also going to PA in 2.5 weeks for 5 days of "relaxation":B

RE: Rollgard Suspension Stabilizer?

I am assuming Rollgards are leaf style since you mentioned Supersprings? I ordered a set of "helper springs" the other day, but these are coils. not the best, but best I can do right now.:)

RE: What do you tow with your LIFTED truck?

MOST people jack up their trucks for the look, not to go off road.
I don't understand the whole clearance thing... You've still got that axle and pumpkin hanging down. 4", 8", 16" of lift, you've never gained more than 2" of actual CLEARANCE after all that work because the bigger tires are what give you that clearance.
It's not just the clearance, it's also the room for bigger/better tires, I went from stock 26-27" tires on my Zuk to 32's. Yes thats only 2.5" more clearance under the axle, but I ALSO went from a 5.5-6" wide tire to a 11.5"! Next step is going to be 35x14.5's!:B

RE: What do you tow with your LIFTED truck?

Now, there is something that looks silly, a low-rider one ton dually.
Ditto. But as another said "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
I used to agree, and in general still do, but I have seen a couple SWEET dually s dropped almost all the way to the pavement. From what I have heard/seen etc it takes a LOT of work to do it and have it look good but still be usable.

RE: Does anyone use nylon straps to keep TC on the truck?

I did the same as you, used them to get it home. IIRC, sunlight will weaken the smaller(cheaper) ones, but for an emergency they should be fine. HOWEVER! I got a light model like you did, I dunno how good they would e for some of the bigger units I have seen on here.

RE: Out side shower

Only suggestion is to change out the head to a kitchen sprayer. Been a long time, but there are threads on here on how to do it. Conserves water.
I LIKE that idea!!

RE: My truck Camper Fix UP

NP on Rausch, just wondering as I am going the end of Aug. I agree on the fuel, this is gonna be a expensive trip! 2 years ago I drove my Zuk and I think the gas part of the trip was about $80-100. Now I got the truck pulling the Zuk and am expecting about $350-400!

RE: Visits with RV.NET TC friends - do you get them?

Not anyone from here, but I have had 4-5 people from a Dodge site (www.ramchargercentral.com) I am on stop in. One came from VA to get my truck, one from Maine has been here a few times and the more "local" (CT/Ma/NY) stop in here and there if they are in the area.
